Thanks to everyone who turned out to make this a fun day.  We met at 9:00am at Cafe 247 in Lucerne Valley.  We had a total of nine rigs including seven Jeep Wranglers, one Jeep Gladiator and one Ford Bronco.  Our first stop was at the Rythm of Life and Atlatl at Black Mesa.  These are geoglyphs constructed of 460 tons of dry stacked stone.  It is worth a visit if you get in the area.  Our second stop was at the Gubler Orchid Farm for a tour.  Again, well worth the time.  The flowers were beautiful, and our hosts were very accommodating.

We then went to the New Dixie Mine trailhead where we aired down for a bit of exploration.  The route took us through a very interesting canyon which then opened up to a very rocky landscape.  Our goal was to find the "Willie Boy" memorial site which marked the location of his death at the end of what is called "The West's Last Famous Manhunt".  It is a very interesting piece of local history.  Several articles can be found on the Internet and some good videos are available on YouTube.  Additionally, at least two feature length motion pictures were produced based on the events leading up to his death.

We finished our day with dinner at the Giant Rock Meeting Room in Flamingo Heights portion of Landers.  Great food and service!
