A big THANK YOU to everyone who turned out to make this a really fun day. We had a total of eight rigs (all Jeeps) and seventeen people. It was a very nice group of people with about a 50/50 split of members and guests. We met in Barstow at 8:30am for a driver's meeting then headed North on Irwin Road to Copper City Road where we aired down. We then visited the following points of interest:
1. Tonka Town.
2. Inscription Canyon.
3. Site of the old opal mine in the Scouts Cove area where we took time for lunch and some on foot exploration.
4. We then followed the old stage line route toward and through Black Canyon stopping to visit the old well, stage stop ruin, Tillman rocks, petroglyphs, etc.
5. NASA F-104 crash site.
6. Coolgardie Camp.
The weather was in the mid 70s with a light breeze with clear sky and warm sun. We finished the day where we started at Copper City Road and Irwin Road where we aired back up and headed for home around 5:00pm. What a great day!
